The One Liner Book Review

‘The Anxious Generation’ by Jonathan Haidt

"If you're a parent, connect with other parents who value play-based childhood and more childhood independence"

- From The Anxious Generation

"If you're a parent, connect with other parents who value play-based childhood and more childhood independence"

This book is flabbergasting. It's obvious. It's clear. It's right beneath our eyes. And it's most powerful message makes that much sense that it makes you want to ask for your child’s phone, let them know the reasons why, and delete their Instagram and tiktok accounts immediately.

It's easier said than done but awareness is the first step before action right? And with that awareness comes discussion, which brings connection, and then which can brings correction and change.

The book is well written and uses the shocking stats in an understandable way, even for those who struggle with numbers and facts.

I like it and I know I'll refer back to it time and time again as my teen navigates their phone time in a safe yet fun way.

One last thing I'd like to add, is that when you find that parent who appreciates play and childhood adventure, befriend the parent yourself and have some outdoor fun too (while your phone sits at home!)!
