A Curiosity Christmas List
A host of creative ideas for the winter season.
The team have gathered some fun ideas to sprinkle into your time this season to help you and your families stay consistent, compassionate and connected.
It’s a busy time, with Christmas, Hannukah, winter solstice, school holidays, and the new year all happening; so we’ve got a few ways to use our hands, to get moving, and to be creative.
Make a batch of salt dough, adding different spices to get different shades and smells. You can play for it as long as you want, and then make decorations with it. Once baked, and decorated, they can last for a very long time.
If it gets cold enough, fill up balloons with water and leave them outside to freeze. You can even experiment with different colours.
Using some thin metal wire, thread together a string of monkey nuts. Pop these garlands in your garden for the squirrels and birds. You can even make it festive by creating a wreath shaped one.
Light different coloured tea lights, and use the wax as your “paint” to decorate candles.
Older kids and teens can have a go at designing patterns on old tins, drilling the holes, and then painting them, to make some simple hanging candle holders.
Paint or glue tissue paper onto old jam jars to make some fun and bright lanterns.
Use chalk pens on your windows. They wash off easily, and you can keep adding to your creations over the season.
Get outside. Wrap up warm, take some flasks of hot chocolate and look into the easy trails and hikes near you.
