Family Support

We provide therapeutic support for family systems.

We believe in empowering parents to become agents of change - parents are the constant whilst therapy is temporary.

Connecting The Dots

Connecting The Dots is a 10 session programme incorporating therapeutic parenting and sensory integration approaches.

The programme aims to:

  • Enable parents to gain greater understanding of their child’s behaviour and to enhance knowledge of the hidden and expressed need.

  • Cultivate greater understanding of the sensory system and help parents to use this understanding to shape their parenting approach

  • Equip parents with greater potential to self-regulate and to co-regulate their child

Connecting the Dots draws upon Sensory Attachment Intervention, Sensory Integration approaches and utilises Therapeutic Parenting aspects of DDP.

Soothing the Sparks

Soothing The Sparks is a 10 session programme incorporating therapeutic parenting and Sensory Attachment approaches, aimed at parents of teens and young people.

  • Enable parents to develop a deeper understanding of their child’s behaviour by increasing and embedding attachment awareness.

  • Cultivate parental knowledge and understanding of the role of their nervous system and to use this to shape their parenting approach

  • Equip parents to use Non Violent Resistance (NVR)based skills to create greater connection and regulation within the family system

Soothing The Sparks draws upon Non Violent Resistance (NVR), and utilises Therapeutic Parenting aspects of DDP.

FAQs for parents

FUSE: The PACEful NVR Group

This is an online group for parents of teens and young people, who have all the foundation level skills and understanding of parenting adopted young people, but are seeking some guidance through the bumps.

This is also open to SGO families and foster carers.

FUSE is a 5 week online course for:

  • parents of teens and young people

  • people who have previously accessed Therapeutic Parenting and/or DDP,

  • parents who need some extra structure and practical skills to implement a more scaffolded parenting approach with confidence.

The sessions will be weekly for 5 weeks, fitting into one half term – allowing folks to commit to the whole programme.

The cost is £300 per attendee for the whole five weeks, to ensure funding remains for other support. This will increase to £450 if two adults from the same family wish to attend.

Our next cohort is starting in September.

Therapeutic Parenting

What is Therapeutic Parenting?

Looking through a lens of attachment and developmental trauma, we will work with you to explore nervous system regulation and the sensory system.

The therapist will work with you to look at whole family system impact, the influence of the nervous system and family dynamics.

How can I access support?

We deliver Therapeutic Parenting with families who have been referred into us; if you are looking for support for your family using the ASGSF, please get in touch with your social worker who can explore working with us.

We can also provide it privately for families across Greater Manchester (or online). Therapeutic Parenting with Curiosity Project requires commitment to engage in at least 5 sessions.

Get in touch if you want further information.

What if I’m looking for some support with my child directly?

We know that there is long term benefit to the family when a Therapist works with the parent to bring about positive change with their child. Therapeutic Parenting works because it gives parents the tools to support their children, long after the therapists have ended the sessions.
