Curiosity Guide to Exam Season
Things to remember as we enter Exam season
Exam season is here, and whether you and your family are dealing with SATs, GCSEs, A-Levels, or Uni exams, we have some simple ideas to keep you all consistent, compassionate and connected.
Keep to consistent routines. E.g. sleep, break times, focus times. Prioritise sleep and allow time for transition to bed, as this is when kids will often offload their stress.
Think about what snacks and food you have in. Chewy food (sourdough, dried mango, pretzels). Crunchy snacks (apples, frozen fruit, breadsticks). Make sure they are drinking lots of water to hydrate.
Take plenty of movement breaks - yoga, go for a swim, get out on your bikes or scooters, climbing, stretching, etc. Whatever works for your family to get moving. Graystone in Salford has an amazing selection of activities if this is local to you.
Get outside together - walk/run/scoot/bug hunt/plant spot etc
Be calm and present. Listen. Don’t ask 1000s of questions. Presence is enough.
Try breathwork - 5 minutes of breathwork together will regulate you all and create contagious calm.
